February Knits

So it turns out that February is the snowiest month this winter-which makes extra time for knitting warm stuff. This hat was a mystery Knit Along from the Mystery 220 Group on Ravelry It is very interesting in a crunchy, organic sort of way.
The socks are from a sock yarn inspired by Van Gogh's Starry Night painting. Art for my feet! This was a test knit for a future pattern. I like these anklets!

I also have a Shalom Cardigan on the needles that I am attempting to make in my larger image. It is knit from a beautiful natural yarn-maybe pics next week.

The SUper Bowl and Instant Chili

I asked my Darlin' which he would prefer to eat during the Super Bowl-chili or burritos. He took a good long time to consider this question-as his second favorite team- the Giants were playing. He announced it would be chili. I call this "Instant Chili"-because the labor expended today was minimal. It did take the farmer a good long time to raise this delicious grass fed beef. And it took my mother in law all summer to grow some bodacious tomatoes. And on last September 1st I spent a long, steamy day, processing those tomatoes into "Chili Base". SO that on Super Bowl Sunday I could defrost two pounds of beautiful ground beef, fry it up in my grandma's iron pot, dump 2 quarts of chili base on it, then open and rinse 4 cans of dark kidney beans and dump those in-and we would have instant chili. I still had time to make a pan of organic corn bread with our own eggs. SO that is today's thoughts on "instant" foods...I gotta go watch pre-game-I plan to get a lot of knitting done-'cause the chili was "instant".

I Really Have Been Busy

The strange condom shaped item with the owls on it-is larger than it looks in a pic-in fact it is newborn baby sized! It is a baby sack-something new since my parenting days. The newborn baby is carefully slipped into it-like we used to swaddle babies-but instant-and warm. As the baby grows it becomes a "kick sack"-it is put on the babe up to the waist-the active kiddo cannot kick this blanket off. Interesting concept. I knitted 2 1/2 pairs of socks also. This pair is finished, and I have an ugly but serviceable pair on my feet. I also swapped 8 of these pennants with my Meerkat friends and 10 postcards. I've been too busy to share.

Apologies All Around

I have neglected my little blog-it's not that I haven't been producing, I have. It just suddenly became too hard to get to the photographing, downloading, uploading rigamaroll. I will try harder-don't leave me.
