Flounces

I'm not a big lover of ruffles. Being plus sized and generously endowed-there just is no room in my wardrobe for the extra fabric involved with ruffles. But Flounces-oh yeah! Semi circles of bias cut fabric that flips and swings when you move....I LOVE flounces! My new apron pattern consists of 3 layered flounces. It is perfect. I tried this one on, and immediately regressed to twirling around my kitchen with eyes focused on the flying skirts. Do you remember twirling as a little girl? The fuller the skirt- the better the twirl. It's what I did when I tried on prom dresses and wedding gowns. That's why I like this apron.

Power DOWN

Ohio was visited by some weird and wonderful weather last Wednesday. One minute the tornado warning came over the cell phone, the next the winds and rain came, the next minute the power was OUT.  Not only was it OUT, but it would not return until early Friday morning. Not nearly as catastrophic  as the hurricanes that regularly bother the coast, but scary just the same. Now, the Piper and I like power down. Stop throwing stuff at me! We really enjoy the quiet, the simple, the peacefulness----until the neighbor gets a hold of a generator. Now, we too, have a generator-we run it for two hours after supper to keep our chest freezer ice cold. Our neighbors ran their generator-ALL NIGHT LONG. Even my first hot shower in three days has not mellowed my outrage. I love the quiet peacefulness of power down. Weird, I know.

What is a 3x3?

This is a new size (to me) of swap vehicle. I joined a swap over on SplitCoast Stampers. My given theme was "Envy" for the 7 Deadly Sins group.

The Girls

Meet the Girls! They are the forms that I use to style my aprons for my Etsy shop. One is vintage, purchased at a local antique shop-and about a size2-4. My conscious pinched me for only using her. I am the one who is always bemoaning the fact that catalogs never picture clothing on size REAL models. So I bought a plus-sized dress form and use it to illustrate how flexible in sizing my aprons are. The "Girls" stand in the corner of the dining room just waiting for their next photo shoot. I think they need a couple of classy names. What do you think?
